Iran rejects UN investigation into protests

Last week, the UN Human Rights Council voted to establish a fact-finding mission to investigate potential abuses in how the Iranian government has resonded to recent protests. Iran has stated that it will not cooperate with the mission.

‘This case has made legal history’: young Australians just won a human rights case against an enormous coal mine

This month, an Australian court has halted a largescale coal project because of its contribution to climate change. The suit against the project was brough by a group of First Nations-led activists called Youth Verdict. They were successful by building their case on human rights, arguing that the mine would pose major risks to environmental and property rights.

Kenyan LGBTQ rights groups honor transgender refugees, asylum seekers

“All transgender persons have a right to equality and freedom from discrimination of all forms. All transgender persons require equal protection against any form of violence,” added [reproductive rights activist Alvin] Mwangi. “The right to equality includes the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms.”
