Genocide in Myanmar, 2017

In August 2017, a genocide occurred in Myanmar, largely perpetrated by the military. This Southeast Asian nation led a campaign against the Rohingya people that included widespread violence, sexual assault, and imprisonment. Nearly one million Rohingya refugees fled to neighboring countries to avoid being killed. The international community did not intervene to stop the violence. Nearly all of the refugees who fled Myanmar have not yet returned.
