Human Rights Education
Implementation Toolkit

We created the Human Rights Education Implementation Toolkit as part of a larger Woven Teaching project, the Ambassador Initiative. As the global rise of authoritarianism and decline of democracy increasingly threaten civil society, Woven Teaching and Woven Foundation remain firmly committed to supporting the courageous work that educators do each day to defend and fight for every individual’s right to dignity, safety, education, and opportunity.

We know that widespread acceptance of human rights requires an engaged and active global citizenry that believes in the values and power of democracy. We also know that global citizens need knowledge, skills, and energy to protect fundamental human rights for themselves and others around them. Our role at Woven Teaching is to reduce obstacles for educators, in formal, non-formal, and informal settings, to effectively teach about human rights and to support their learners in becoming part of this engaged, active global citizenry.

In light of these increasing threats to civil society, we have created an ever-growing network of Ambassadors–organizations around the world who are integrating Woven Teaching materials into their ongoing work in ways that support their mission, values, and priorities. This toolkit serves as one avenue through which we support educators and our Ambassador organizations to leverage Woven Teaching materials to expand and enhance their impact in the communities they serve.
