Opinion Continuum
OVERVIEW:
An Opinion Continuum allows students to share their opinion on a topic by moving to different points in the classroom.
Procedure
Preparation: Post Opinion Continuum signs at different points in the classroom. The signs include: I totally agree, I agree, not sure, I disagee, and I totally disagree.
Explain to students that you will read a statement (or statements) related to the lessons’s topic. Their task is to move to the corresponding sign to indicate whether they agree or disagree with the statement, and how strongly.
Read each statement. After students have moved into position, ask a few students to share their justification for choosing that point on the continuum. Encourage students to move positions if they have a change in opinion.
